Greg Kirby
Partner
Greg is a trial lawyer and civil litigator and has been his entire legal career. Prior to joining WVFK&N, Greg was a Partner at a very successful Maryland medical malpractice defense firm. During his 13+ years defending health care providers, Greg dealt with complex medical issues and gained extensive experience into how the insurance industry and defense attorneys work and the strategies they use to defend malpractice cases. That has given Greg a very helpful perspective when creating the strategies and tactics necessary to fight for the victims of medical malpractice.
Practice Areas:
- Medical Malpractice
- Birth Injury
Greg was born and raised in Maryland. He has handled medical malpractice and other litigation matters in almost every jurisdiction in the state and in all Maryland state and federal courts. His experience stretches beyond Maryland, however, as Greg has also litigated medical malpractice matters in the District of Columbia and the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. In these jurisdictions, Greg has obtained numerous unanimous jury verdicts in favor of his clients. By way of example, in 2011, he helped to obtain what was then thought to be the largest jury verdict on behalf of a victim of medical malpractice in Allegany County, Maryland. In addition to the aforementioned, Greg devoted an extensive amount of time for about five years litigating a large, multi-district litigation matter involving hundreds of health care provider defendants and plaintiffs related to a national health crisis that left nearly 100 people dead and thousands severely injured due to contaminated medications. In 2015, Greg was accepted and admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court.
Greg is well respected by his peers. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyer in Super Lawyers Magazine from 2016 to the present – an honor bestowed upon the top 5 percent of attorneys in Maryland. In 2014, he was named to The Daily Record’s “VIP List” of “very important professionals” under 40 years old. Then, for 2016-2017, Greg was elected by his peers to serve as the President of the Bar Association of Baltimore City, a large legal professional group. He has also held numerous leadership positions in the Maryland State Bar Association, as well as with other legal and medical professional groups.
Prior to attending law school, Greg was a software engineer for a large international technology company, where he wrote code and helped to program a medical management application used seamlessly by doctors and hospitals as an integrated health information system for managing patient care.
After receiving his law degree, Greg clerked for the Honorable William H. Horne in the Circuit Court for Talbot County. Upon Judge Horne’s mandatory retirement, he completed his clerkship for the Honorable Sidney J. Campen.
In his spare time, Greg enjoys playing sports, watching the Ravens and Orioles, hiking, and spending time with his family. He has also proudly been a coach in a number of different youth sports for years.
